How not to email a press release

If you’re a sales manager that’s been given the task of sending a press release out about your company here’s a bit of free and quick advice on how NOT to do it based on a bad example I’ve just received.

1) Don’t have a dull subject line, journalists are short on time so you won’t capture their attention.

2) Don’t use .docx Word documents, most journos don’t have the latest software, so we can’t read them.

3) Don’t forget to include information about the release in the email body. Should a journalist make it past points 1 & 2 then at least tell them about whatever it is you’re promoting in the email body.

Don’t believe it’s possible to get it so wrong?
